Farmville, NC is located eight miles west of Greenville. Though it is a part of the Greenville Metropolitan, it is a small town on its own. The town was settled in the mid 1760s and finally incorporated in 1872. Since the town's beginning, it has developed from a small commercial center for the agricultural expansion to a booming art scene. Today, Farmville is nicknamed the "New Town" because they have changed with the times. Farmville is more than its name, it is a community that welcomes change in economy while honoring its past and welcoming its future.
Like most of Eastern Carolina, Farmville is also experiencing a revival. Alongside East Carolina University's School of Art and Design, they turned a former Gulf service station into the GlasStation, a glass blowing facility where you can take classes. This has jumped started their art scene and there are a number of galleries, antique shops, and a theater on their Main Street. Restaurants ranging from Plank Road Steak House to Jack Cobb's Barbecue Place. Stop by for a cold one at Duck Rabbit Craft Brewery or Pour Haus Pub. There is something for everyone here.
